Ensemble&#8217; has been inspired by the Seattle Phonographers Union, a loose artist collective that has been active for the past twenty years. Only performance rule: the used field recordings may not be defamiliarized by digital effects, the inherent aesthetic potential of the &#8216;acoustic readymades&#8217; thus remaining in the foreground. SUAL 2017 revives an idea which has already been realized once a decade ago, within the framework of the second SUAL festival.
